Cruise on the Canal du Midi
Cruising on a comfortable barge with solar panels - No CO2 emissions

The Canal du Midi is the clue for this trip on a UNESCO Heritage. You silently cruise on the Canal since the barge is equipped with 80 m² solar panels. Four crew members organise the cruise and six cabins can accommodate two persons each. Three cabins are designed specially for disabled persons.

     
  PROGRAM
   

Day 1: Departure from Carcassonne at 3.00pm to Trebes. Welcome drink then dinner on board with a historian tellin the past and the operations on the Canal du Midi.

Day 2 : Cruising on the Marseillette's reach, 9 km under a green tunnel. Lunch on board. In the aftertoon, passing few locks among which the Needle Lock. Dinner on board with a guitar player.

Day 3 : Cruising down to Homps, ancient trading harbour. Lunch on board. Visit of the wine cellar and possible tasting of Minervois wines. Stroll along the Jouarre lake 800 meters away from the Canal. In the evening transfer to Minerve. Visit of the Cathar fortified city Minerve. Dinner in a restaurant in Minerve. Transfer back to the barge.

Day 4 : Cruising down to Argens, lunch on board. Cruising on the 54km long reach of Fontserranne. The next locks will be in Béziers. Crossing the first canal-bridge being built in 1686. Stp in Ventenac to visit the wine cellar. Wine tasting presented by a winegrower.

Day 5 : We cruise to the Somail. Visit of this ancient harbour and of the Hat museum located 800 meters away from the canal. Lunch on board and cruise down to the canal-bridge of the Cesse. Arrival in Capestang around 3.00pm. Visit of the collegiate church. Dinner in a restaurant in the village.

Day 6: Cruise under the tunnel of Malpas, first fluvial tunnel to be builtby Pierre-Paul Riquet. Visit of the house of Malpas and of the ermite's tunnel. Lunch on board and cruise down to the seven locks of Fontseranne. A unique masterpiece built by Riquet. Ships and barges can cruise down 22 meters in seven locks. Arrival in Beziers at about 6.00pm. End of the cruise.
