Backcountry biking in Massif Central
Bike from volcanoes to Mediterranean Sea through and Cevennes
5 days / 5 nights - from 435.00€ per personne (party of 6)

  Massif Central is a widely spread mountain, it includes the chaîne des Puys (ancient volcanos) and the languedocian limestone plateaus. The highest point is the Puy de Sancy, 1885 meters. By mountain bike you ride on dormant volcanos, you climb up to the plateaus after having crossed the deep Tarn gorges. Amazing nature, plenty of different lands and typical housing are everyday's gifts along this trip.
We offer 3 routes among which you can choose to discover 3 aspects of the natural and historical heritage.

• Volcanic mountain bike - 5 days / 4 nights
• Ancient cows and carnivorous plants - 5 days / 4 nights
• Medieval paths and Templar order - 5 days / 4 nights

 Each route includes a visit corresponding to its theme : vulcanism, aurochs and a fortified city, a remain of the Templar Order.

Vulcanic Mountain Bike - 5 days / 4 nights (intermediate)

Day 1 : From the Chaine des Puys to the Cantal region - 37 km - difference in height: +701 / - 246 m

Day 2 : Resting day - guided tour to discover the world of the dormant volcanos.

Day 3 : A rough and wild nature on volcanos - 48 km - difference in height: + 940 / - 760 m

Day 4 :The Cézallier Plateau - 53 km -difference in height: + 897 / - 761 m

Day 5 : At the entrance of wild Lozere - 57 km - difference in height: + 595 / - 696 m

Ancient cows and carnivorous plants - 5 days / 4 nights (intermediate)

Day 1 : From the entrance of wild Lozere to deep forests - 36 km -difference in height: +863 / -578 m

Day 2 : Biking in Margeride - 49 km - difference in height: + 825 / - 598 m

Day 3 :Resting day in Margeride - Guided tour to discover local cows, special plants and more

Day 4 : Biking on the Mounts Lozere -50 km - difference in height: + 756 / - 840 m

Day 5 : Impressive ride down into the Tarn gorges - 56 km -difference in height: + 754 / - 1304 m

VTT, drailles et Templiers  - 5 jours / 4 nuits (difficult)

Day 1 : Ride up from the Tarn gorges to the Méjean plateau - 48 km - difference in height : +857 / -391 m

Day 2 : Biking in the steppe and inside an amazing chaos. Ride up on the Aigoual mountain- 41 km -difference in height: + 856 / - 1090 m

Day 3 : Cross two steep gorges - 47 km - difference in height: + 868 / - 805 m

Day 4 : Reaching the larzac plateau and resting in the afternoon : visit of a Templar city - 25 km - difference in height: + 250 / - 223 m

Day 5 : Riding to the Herault river gorges - 53,5 km - difference in height: + 813 / - 1375 m

 

DIFFERENT CONDITIONS
You can book any of these routes with a graduated mountain bike guide . Groups leave when at least 4 people joined the trip.

You can also choose to self guide your trip. We prepare your road book with maps and detailed routes.

The Raid : You can also book two or three routes and therefore ride along the entire itinerary. In that case, please contact us.(fabienne@languedoc-nature.com)

LEVEL & TRAINING
You are going to practice a sport during several days and we advise you to do some sport to be fit and physically trained. You can bike during several weeks prior to your arrival. It is even better if you bike all year long in order to get or reinforce your resistance. Going to the fitness club or jogging can also help you to prepare your trip..
HÉBERGEMENT ET RESTAURATION
We book your accommodation on a full board basis (breakfast, packed lunch and local typical dinner). Accommodation in gites for groups, B&B or small independant hotels
