Hike Tour du Larzac Meridional
Hiking on the Southern side of the Larzac Plateau
9 days / 8 nights or 5 days / 4 nights
The Southern side of the Larzac Plateau is the last limestone massif above the Mediterranean Sea. The altitude (between 600m and 900m) combined to the location of this plateau render a land characterized by its climate, the fauna and the plants. Beyond the wilde landscapes, you will be surprised by their variety and the numerous geological curiosities. You will also discover the shepherd's traditions and the historical richness. Far from the buoyant city life, we propose this tour of Southern Larzac on a marked path with a fully qualified guide or not.
The guide, if chosen, will bring you security, advice and will let you discover this lovable region. Within the wide areas of the plateau and the impressive sites, you will approach a protected environment, to discover the housing and even the menhirs and dolmens standing there since the first human presence. The variety of this tour will satisfy you and anybody will take pleasure in walking freely whatever the physical shape.
This tour was design thanks to the help of the Communauté de Communes du Lodévois-Larzac, of the CDRP de l'Hérault (Comité Départemental de la Randonnée Pédestre) and of the CPIE (Centre Permanent d'initiatives pour l'Environnement) of the Causses Méridionaux.

Ideas : What else to do in Larzac ?
Hello Fred,
A superb trip, following last year's tour of Mont Lozère. The Larzac tour was a wonderful discovery.
The accommodation was excellent, with lovely encounters each time.
Thank you again.

Hello,
Our impressions are very positive. We really enjoyed the complete change of scenery with landscapes very different from our own. We noticed that the route allowed us to hike on varied paths, wide and narrow, over limestone pavements, among box trees, on balconies or on plateaus, all in three days and under the sun.
The length of the stages was perfect for us. We were very well received everywhere we went, in very different places. We have nothing but praise for your organisation: the comprehensive booklet, the route on the maps. We encountered no difficulties whatsoever.
We will not hesitate to recommend you to our friends.
Best regards.
Elisabeth
Hello
We really appreciated the package you offered. The preparations were thorough: the booklet summarising the stages was sent on time, and you checked to make sure we had received it.
The documents provided were very well designed. In particular, the booklet with the elevation profiles – we appreciated knowing what to expect and how to ‘manage’ the stage, maps, and topographical information with tabs.
We also appreciated that the price quoted was honoured, and we had no additional charges.
We also enjoyed the stop at La Couvertoirade.
Everywhere we went, we were warmly welcomed, the accommodation was decent, and the meals were very tasty...
We were very happy to have chosen the option with packed lunches, as there are no shops along the route (perhaps worth mentioning for those who are unsure).
In short, this was a ‘first’ for us, as we usually plan our own hikes, and it was a wonderful experience. A big thank you for all your hard work.
