Hike Tour du Larzac Meridional

Hike Tour du Larzac Meridional

Hiking on the Southern side of the Larzac Plateau

6 days / 5 nights - 4 days / 3 nights

The Southern side of the Larzac Plateau is the last limestone massif above the Mediterranean Sea. The altitude (between 600m and 900m) combined to the location of this plateau render a land characterized by its climate, the fauna and the plants. Beyond the wilde landscapes, you will be surprised by their variety and the numerous geological curiosities. You will also discover the shepherd's traditions and the historical richness. Far from the buoyant city life, we propose this tour of Southern Larzac on a marked path with a fully qualified guide or not.
The guide, if chosen, will bring you security, advice and will let you discover this lovable region. Within the wide areas of the plateau and the impressive sites, you will approach a protected environment, to discover the housing and even the menhirs and dolmens standing there since the first human presence. The variety of this tour will satisfy you and anybody will take pleasure in walking freely whatever the physical shape.

This tour was design thanks to the help of the Communauté de Communes du Lodévois-Larzac, of the CDRP de l'Hérault (Comité Départemental de la Randonnée Pédestre) and of the CPIE (Centre Permanent d'initiatives pour l'Environnement) of the Causses Méridionaux.

Trip highlights:

- a land of pastoralism (area Unesco Causses and Cévennes)

- built heritage caussenard

- Navacelles circus and gorges of the Vis

Travel advisories:

Hello, Fred,

Superb walk, after the tour of the mont lozère last year. The tour of Larzac is a beautiful discovery.

Excellent accomodation, with each time nice encounters.

Thank you again for your time.

Dominica

Good morning, sir,

Our impressions are very positive, we really appreciated the total change of scenery by the landscapes very different from ours. We noticed that the route allowed us to hike on varied paths, wide, narrow on the lapiaz, among the box trees, on balconies or on the plateaus, all this over three days and under the sun.

The length of the stages were perfect for us. We were very well received everywhere in very different places. We have only congratulations for this organization: the small and very complete notebook, the route on the maps. We didn't encounter any difficulties.

We will not hesitate to recommend you to our friends.

We are looking forward to hearing from you.

Elisabeth

Hello
We really liked the proposed formula. The preparations were serious: the booklet summarizing the steps was sent on time, and we checked to see if the shipment had reached us in time.
The documents provided were very well designed. Especially the booklet with the gradients - we appreciated knowing what to expect, and how to "manage" the stage, maps, topo with tabs.
We also liked that the price was well respected, and we had no extras to pay, no unpleasant surprises.

As far as the hike is concerned,
Accommodation: varied but all very good.
We particularly appreciated the guest rooms for their welcome, the kindness of the owners, their openness and the comfort of the accommodation.
We also liked the stay at La Couvertoirade.
Everywhere, we were well received, good accommodation, and very tasty meals...
We were very happy to have chosen the version with lunch baskets because there are no shops on the circuit (perhaps to be mentioned for people who hesitate).

In short, for us it was a "first" of its kind because we usually prepare our own hikes, and it was a great experience, so thank you very much for this great work.

I'm sorry I'm a month late in answering. But I still want to tell you how satisfied I am with the quality of the accommodation, the welcome and the catering. The documents given for the itinerary were also very precise. Wonderful landscapes and warm encounters. Thank you very much!

Already a week since we came back from our hike in the southern Larzac.
We were very lucky to have the ideal weather for walking and so we could fully enjoy the beautiful landscape, the flora, the scents...
We will keep a wonderful memory of this hike.

Overall, our hike went very well. We had some very nice encounters, especially at the guest house. Everywhere the welcome was very warm.
The landscape delighted us all. The physical difficulties were quite well managed despite a few stages a little under the heat. Good balance of distances...for a good walker all the same. In conclusion, the balance is of course very positive and we had a great time on these lands of Larzac.

We were enchanted by this hike in the southern Larzac which offers beautiful varied landscapes alternating Causses, gorges or bucolic with in this season flowery scents. The Vis is a magnificent river.
Personally, we knew the Couvertoirade but we discovered Navacelles and for us walkers, arriving by the paths brings a pleasure of another dimension.
In the accommodations, the welcome was everywhere very warm and friendly and the table of good quality, with a note of excellence in the 1st guest room.
We were lucky to have a summery weather. We would have liked to continue one more day....
For many years now we have been doing an itinerant hike that we organize ourselves and we carry our luggage; this year for various reasons we were not able to do so and we turned to you, we do not regret it.
Thank you and see you maybe next time.
With kind regards.

I was going to write to tell you that our hike has been
super well spent we found the beautiful scenery and the distances per day well suited. I think you'll hear from me next summer because we would like to do another hike in the area (I promise this time I'll do it earlier!!!!). A special mention for Jean Louis who is really a very nice and interesting person to talk to. Thank you for the organization of this hike.
