Ardeche - Mézenc

The Mézenc is located at the northern end of the Cévennes, on the borders of the Ardèche and the Haute Loire. These uplands with a plateau profile are marked by volcanism as evidenced by the presence of ancient volcanoes: the sucs. Mt Mézenc is the highest point with 1753 m of altitude and has the particularity to have 2 summits ... The climate is of mountain type with a specific flora and fauna. To note, the presence of the marmot introduced at the beginning of the 80s.

Nearby, the Ardéchoise Mountain (or Ardéchois plateau, depending on ...) offers, with its specificities, landscapes conducive to escape. Country of springs (the Loire River has its source in Mt Gerbier de Jonc) and volcanism, these large wild spaces constitute a remarkable whole, a large part of which is located in the area of the Natural Park of the Monts d'Ardèche.

In winter, the conditions are rigorous with most of the time one of the best snow cover of the Massif Central.

On the Mezenc Massif and the Montagne Ardéchoise, you can practice mountain biking, hiking and in winter: snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and dog sledding.
